Q. IS IT IMPORTANT TO PURCHASE A SYSTEM WITH AN ELECTRONIC MONITORING SYSTEM

A. No.  Some systems include an electronic monitoring system which is supposed to light up when your water quality has declined.  However, from our experience, these are not reliable.  Here are some alternatives:
        - pay attention to how your R.O. water tastes. If it begins to taste bad, then it may not be working properly.
        - fill a small pot with your R.O. water.  If it leaves a white scum on the pan, then your membrane is not working properly.
        - send us a small plastic bottle of your tap water and a small plastic bottle of your R.O. water.   We will test them for free and let you know the amount of Total Dissolved Solids ("TDS) in each.
        - buy a TDS meter and test your water as often as you want.

Q. IS A 5 STAGE SYSTEM BETTER THAN A 4 STAGE SYSTEM?

A. No, with most 5 stage R.O. systems, they just have 2 carbon pre-filters, instead of one. One of the main characteristics of a carbon pre-filter is how many gallons of chlorinated water it will process before it quits removing chlorine. The carbon pre-filters in most of these systems can process 9,000 gallons of chlorinated water or less. With our system, the carbon pre-filter will process 20,000 gallons of chlorinated water before it needs to be changed. Thus, our system does more in 4 stages than what these other systems do in 5 stages -- at significant savings to you. (However, if you already have a 5 stage system which uses standard-size filters, we can sell you replacement filters.)

In our opinion, a true five stage system would do something more for your water than every other four stage system. For example, if you need to disinfect your water, you may need an Ultaviolet Radiation filter. If you want to remove a higher percentage of nitrates or iron from your water than the system already remove, you will need a special cartridge for each of these.
